Application design environment for USB 2.0 On-The-Go Systems

USB 2.0 On-The-Go controller "ML60842" +32-bit ARM microcontroller "ML67400"

The JOB60842 board is a starters kit designed for developing USB 2.0 On-The-Go systems. It incorporates the 32-bit microcontroller ML674000 using the μPLAT®-7B CPU platform which adopts ARM7TDMI™ for its CPU core and the ML60842 controller with USB 2.0 full-speed hosting functions, peripheral functions and On-The-Go functions..

 

Features of JOB 60842

The board has Flash memories and SRAMs for program storage as well as SRAMs and SDRAMs for data processing which allow excecution of embedded application program and debugging.
The USB controller ML60842 is also mounted on the board for enabling execution and debugging of the embedded application programs which support USB host, USB peripherals, and USB On-The-Go.

Configuration of Evaluation System

By combining JTAG interface tool sold separately, debugging functions of ML674000 offers more flexible debugging via JTAG interface.

Example of Operation

Used as a USB host

The JOB60842 functions as a USB host to allow verification of connections with USB hubs, USB mice, and the JOB60852.
The sample program include USB hub drivers, USB mouse drivers (interrupt transfer samples), and JOB drivers (bulk transfer samples).
Note that the USB hub and USB mouse drivers are not completely compliant with the USB class standards. JOB driver allows loop-back by bulk transfer when JOB60852 or the JOB60842 is connected.

Used as a USB peripheral

The JOB60842 functions as a USB peripheral and realizes data communication with a host computer.
The sample program provides bulk transfer loop-back only.
USB device drivers on the host computer are not supported.

Used as USB On-The-Go

Data communication between two JOB60842 boards is possible by USB connection.
In this case, HNP of the USB On-The-Go allows one board to function as a USB host and the other board to function as a USB peripheral.
The sample program provides bulk transfer loop-back.
