The MSM7664B/MSM7663B run in asynchronous sampling mode.
As the synchronization time is short after switching of input signals, in about one field or more, these products are useful for switching the inputs from other channels sequentially.
However, one of the disadvantages of sampling in asynchronous mode is occurrence of sampling errors, resulting in occurrence of errors in the number of pixels.
The MLS7664B/MSM7663B correct the number of pixels with internal FIFO and output the fixed number of pixels within the valid screen.
However, since the pixel errors accumulated in FIFO are reset in the two lines outside of the screen once for one field, the fixed number of pixels is not output for these two lines and the fluctuation of the input signals appear as pixel errors.
These pixel errors appear as the fluctuation of decoder output synchronous signals (HSYNC_L/VSYNC_L). Therefore, when decoder output synchronous signals are used as synchronous signals of the system, they can affect the subsequent processing circuit.
Example:) Since image processing was performed in field units assuming the fixed number of pixes, pixcel errors occurred between fields, causing data displacement.
(Since pixel errors do not occur when only the valid screen data is received with VVALID/HVALID, the use of the data of the valid screen section is valid.)
As indicated in FAQ, fine horizontal stripes appear as noise when the MSM7664B (same as 7663B) is used due to the ADC characteristics and digital input processing operation errors.
These noises are hardly visible in color images or moving images, but in monochrome images, such noises can be clearly visible on the screen with gray background.
Noise visibility varies depending on the the size and characteristics of monitors. Since this noise visibility problem tends to occur when an LCD monitor is used, thorough examination is necessary before using MSM7664B (7663B).
