ML8511 - SOI-based UV-sensor IC with voltage output
Description
The ML851 1 is the world´s first thin-film SOI (¹) UV-sensor with an integrated OpAmp - this a major breakthrough compared to conventional UV-sensors based on compound semiconductors. Now available in volume, including chip calibrationfor highest accuracy.
Enabling an analog voltage output function proportional to UV light intensity (UV-A and UV-B) on a single chip, the ML8511 does not require an optical cut filter. This enables manufacturers to develop compact and highly mobile UV devices at low cost.
In addition to conventional applications such as accessory-type devices to measure the amount of UV in daylight, the ML8511 can be used in many home appliance applications.
(¹) SOI: Silicon-on-Insulator

Spectral Response
ML8511 Spectral Response comparison
 |
ML8511 covers full UV-A spectrum |
Unlike other UV Sensors in the market, OKI´s ML8511 is covering the full UV-A spectrum.
Therefore OKI´s ML8511 provides reliable UV measurement in the bandwidth of 280 to 400nm which is the basis for the UV index |
